My interests are in HCI fields, specifically computational journalism, social computing, digital ethics and algorithmic fairness. I’m particularly invested in how digital surfaces — from their engineering affordances to their recommendation systems — affect user behavior both on- and off-screen. My methods are equal parts social and technical, as I work to bring engineering practices to research problems.

See my project mapping.news for one facet of what I’m working on — I have a longer piece about it forthcoming.

Also, it's worth noting here that I am the fortunate recipient of a NSF / CRA CISE Graduate Fellowship (CSGrad4US), with fellowship funding of $159,000 to be disbursed over three years of a graduate program.
