Personal

i publish a weekly newsletter called “about three links” that compiles three links i found interesting, inspiring or important. you can subscribe to that newsletter here. i'll occasionally also share little life updates or links to things i've published.

Academic

My interests are in HCI fields, specifically computational journalism, social computing, digital ethics and algorithmic fairness. I’m particularly invested in how digital surfaces — from their engineering affordances to their recommendation systems — affect user behavior both on- and off-screen. My methods are equal parts social and technical, as I work to bring engineering practices to research problems.

See my project mapping.news for one facet of what I’m working on — I have a longer piece about it forthcoming.

Also, it's worth noting here that I am the fortunate recipient of a NSF / CRA CISE Graduate Fellowship (CSGrad4US), with fellowship funding of $159,000 to be disbursed over three years of a graduate program.
