My interests are in HCI fields, specifically computational journalism, social computing, digital ethics and algorithmic fairness. I’m particularly invested in extending my industry experience — building and analyzing digital systems that affect user action — to other types of workers. For instance, how do journalists’ tools affect their workflow: from research and reporting, to writing, publishing and promotion?
See my project mapping.news for one facet of what I’m working on — I have a longer piece about it forthcoming.
Also, it's worth noting here that I am the fortunate recipient of a NSF / CRA CISE Graduate Fellowship (CSGrad4US), with fellowship funding of $159,000 to be disbursed over three years of a graduate program.
